An incredible, highly collectible piece of fashion history. This authentic vintage mid-calf midi dress comes from the rare "Chanel Creations" line, which ran for a brief period between 1977 and 1982 under designer Philippe Guibourge. This historic era marked Chanel's very first official ready-to-wear collection, launched to modernize the house aesthetic before Karl Lagerfeld took over in 1983.
This dress is beautifully crafted in France out of a gorgeous, lightweight black puckered jacquard textured fabric adorned with crisp white polka dots. It features elegant, slightly puffed shoulders, delicate fabric-covered functional buttons at the gathered wrist cuffs, and a period-correct metal Éclair / IMKAI zipper track down the back with an intact hook-and-eye closure at the neck.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The fabric texture is beautifully preserved, colors are deep, and all original hardware and sleeve buttons are fully intact. No notable holes, tears, or stains.l but has a small thread run on one side of upper back, and has minor creasing.
Material:
No composition tag present (highly common and historically accurate for this late 1970s era). The fabric is a premium, lightweight woven jacquard/crepe blend with a luxurious silky feel and excellent fluid drape.
